Soldering tip for Your Heating System
When replacing sections of baseboard heating units, use small white bread plugs at each end of the removed sections. Be sure there is no crust on the bread. After shutting down and draining your heating system, clean, flux and assemble the replaced section, and solder the copper fittings. The plugs will keep the water away from the joints and maintain temperature while soldering. The recirculating water will dissolve the bread plugs and return circulation to the system.
