ELIGIBILITY:
- Entrants must be 18 years of age or older as of March 31, 2003 and legal residents of the 50 United States, the District of Columbia and Canada (except residents of Quebec province).
- The following are ineligible to participate in this contest: Employees of WD-40 Company, Nuffer, Smith, Tucker, Cramer-Krasselt, Sitelab International or any of their affiliates; or members of the immediate families of any of the foregoing.
- No purchase necessary to enter.
- All submissions become property of the WD-40 Company and will not be returned.
- False or deceptive entries or acts will render entrants and nominees ineligible.
- Void where restricted or prohibited.
TO ENTER:
- Submit trade secrets or on-the-job shortcuts online using the submission form or by sending your submission to: WD-40 Job Site, P.O. Box 881515, San Diego, CA 92168-1515
- Entries must include an 8 1/2 x 11 inch sheet of paper with the following:
• Name, mailing address, email address and phone number of entrant
submitting trade secret or on-the-job shortcut
• Entrant's occupation
• Entrant's trade secret or on-the-job shortcut (limit 200 words) - Online entries must be submitted on the Web site by 11:59 p.m. (PST) on March 31, 2003. Mail-in submissions must be postmarked by March 31, 2003 and received by April 7, 2003; entries received after the deadline will not be eligible
- Uses that violate the danger warnings on a WD-40 can will not be considered
- WD-40 Company not responsible for lost/stolen/postage-due mail or late/misdirected mail
- If the entrant has any questions or does not understand any item, it is their responsibility to write to the above P.O. Box address for clarification prior to their submission and include a self-addressed stamped envelope. In the event of a challenge to any of the rules, the common sense intent of the rule shall prevail. If an entrant challenges the administration of this contest and does not prevail, then the entrant shall bear the cost of legal fees for all parties. All disputes will be governed by the laws of the state of California. Submission of an entry indicates the entrant completely understands and agrees to abide by these rules.
SELECTION:
- Trade secrets and on-the-job shortcuts will be ranked on a point system based on the following criteria:
• Practicality (25 points);
• Applicability to the average do-it-yourselfer (25 points); and
• The extent to which the trade secret or shortcut is not common
knowledge (25 points), for a possible total of 75 points. - 100 entrants with the highest overall scores win. Ties will be broken based on the highest ranking in applicability to the average do-it-yourselfer
- Entrants whose trade secrets or on-the-job shortcuts are selected as one of the 100 tips that will be posted on the WD-40 Company Job Site, jobsite.wd40.com, will be informed on or around April 10 via email, U.S. mail or telephone
- The 100 entrants whose trade secrets or on-the-job shortcuts are selected, and who have filled all other requirements as outlined in the Terms & Conditions will receive a WD-40 branded leather tool belt, approximate retail value US$35.
- No prize substitutions or cash redemptions allowed. Prizes are not transferable. All taxes are the sole responsibility of the winner. Sponsor reserves the right to substitute a prize if featured prize becomes unavailable.
- All entrants whose trade secrets or on-the-job shortcuts are selected for posting on the Web site and to receive a prize must sign an affidavit allowing WD-40 Company permission (except where prohibited) to use his/her name, likeness, statements and submitted entries for advertising and publicity purposes without additional compensation within 14 days of the date notice is sent or such other date set by Sponsor. Failure to respond on time will result in prize forfeiture and Sponsor may award prize to an alternate.
- A list of the entrants whose trade secrets or on-the-job shortcuts are selected for inclusion in the WD-40 Job Site will be available after May 6, 2003. A list can be obtained after May 6, 2003 by sending a self-addressed stamped envelope to: WD-40 Job Site, P.O. Box 881515, San Diego, CA 92168-1515
